CNRS Seventh Annual Research Excellence Award, 2017
To recognize scientists who excelled in conducting research in different scientific disciplines in Lebanon, and as part of its policy to reinforce scientific research and innovation and to direct that research to respond to the needs of the country, the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) established an annual award for research excellence for each of the following disciplines:
- Engineering and basic sciences.
- Medical, biological and public health sciences.
- Agricultural and environmental sciences.
- Human and social sciences.
In addition to the four awards, CNRS offers a
“CNRS Excellence Career Award” to senior scientists who contributed through their career to outstanding research achievements in different scientific disciplines, contributing to the advancement of research and development in Lebanon. Priority in selecting the awardees will be given to those who demonstrated innovative research achievements with a positive impact on the environment, public health, technological development and societal challenges in Lebanon.
Nomination Eligibility: All Lebanese scientists working permanently in Lebanon and implemented their research in any Lebanese research or academic institute, can be nominated for these awards.
Priority will be given to researchers who implemented research projects with support from the CNRS Grant Research Program and whose results were published in refereed scientific journals. Scientists who previously received the CNRS Research Excellence Award will be excluded.
Submission: For the main four annual awards (Engineering and basic sciences, Medical, biological and public health sciences, Agricultural and environmental sciences, Human and social sciences), researchers can be self-nominated or nominated by colleagues or through the institutions where they work.
As for the “Excellence Career Award”, nominations can only be made by an accredited academic or research institution indicating justification for their nomination including its scientific or technological importance, with full documentation of research achievements.
The award: Awardees will receive a certificate of research excellence in addition to a check for nine million Lebanese pounds. Awardees can be selected by CNRS to serve as members of the editorial board of the “Lebanese Science Journal” and/or contribute to CNRS research projects evaluation committees.
Nomination file: The nomination file includes: (1) nomination letter from the candidate or his institution or from a colleague, (2) completed application form which is available on the CNRS website (www.cnrs.edu.lb/awards2017.html) and it includes all the details on how to complete it, (3) publication list of the candidate covering the last five years from 2012 (references should be cited according to international bibliographical rules and should be arranged in separate sections for articles, books, proceedings, abstracts for oral presentations, abstracts for posters, review articles and technical reports) and a copy of the first page of each article.
Evaluation: Candidates files will be reviewed by specialized scientific committees and assessed on the basis of internationally accepted indicators for research excellence that focus on quality and impact in serving societal needs.

Announcement of awardees names: The awardees of the CNRS Research Excellence Award 2017 names will be announced in a special event organized by CNRS during the second half of 2017.

يطلق المجلس الوطني للبحوث العلمية جائزة سنوية للتميّز العلمي، تقديراً منه للباحثين العلميين في لبنان الذين قاموا بإنجازات متميّزة في مجال اختصاصهم، وسعياً منه لخلق مبادرات تعزّز الإبداع والابتكار والتحفيز في إطار بيئة حاضنة للبحث العلمي المجدي في لبنان.
تسند جائزة سنوية في أحد المحاور البحثية في كل من المجالات الأساسية التالية:
- العلوم الأساسية والهندسية
- العلوم الطبية والبيولوجية والصحة العامة
- العلوم الزراعية والبيئية
- علوم الإنسان والمجتمع
وبالإضافة إلى الجوائز الأربع، يمنح المجلس
"جائزة الانجاز العلمي" تكريماً للباحثين اللبنانيين المخضرمين الذين قدّموا خلال مسيرتهم العلمية خدمات بحثية مميّزة في كافة حقول العلوم وشكّلت أعمالهم إنجازات بارزة ساهمت في تطوير البحوث والتنمية والمجتمع في لبنان.
تعطى الأولوية في اختيار الفائزين للمرشحين الذين يثبتون تحقيقهم إنجازات بحثية مبتكرة في محاور علمية استراتيجية تتّصف بالأثر الإيجابي على البيئة والصحة العامة والتطوير التكنولوجي والتحديات المجتمعية في لبنان.
الترشيح:
يحق الترشيح لكافة الباحثين اللبنانيين العاملين بشكل دائم في الجامعات أومراكز البحوث والذين نفّذوا أبحاثهم في إحدى المؤسسات البحثية أو الأكاديمية في لبنان.
كما تعطى الأولوية للباحثين الذين سبق وتعاقدوا مع المجلس في برنامجه لدعم البحوث العلمية، ونفّذوا مشاريع صدرت عنها مقالات علمية محكّمة.
يستثنى من الترشيحات الباحثون الذين سبق ونالوا جائزة المجلس للتميّز العلمي.
آلية الترشيح:
في الترشيحات للجوائز السنوية الأربع (العلوم الأساسية والهندسية، العلوم الطبية والبيولوجية والصحة العامة، العلوم الزراعية والبيئية وعلوم الإنسان والمجتمع) يمكن للباحث أن يقدّم ترشيحه بنفسه، كما يمكن أن يقترح هذا الترشيح من قبل زملاء آخرين أو من قبل المؤسسة التي يعمل فيها. في حين يشترط لجائزة الإنجاز العلمي أن تتقدّم بالترشيح جهّة علميّة أو أكاديميّة موثوقة مع مبرّرات الترشيح والمستندات المتعلّقة بالانجازات المحقّقة وأهمّيتها العلمية و/أو التقنيّة.
الجائزة:
يقدّم المجلس للباحثين الفائزين شهادة "التميّز في البحث"، بالإضافة إلى جائزة مالية قدرها تسعة ملايين ليرة لبنانية. كما يمكن للمجلس اعتبار الفائز عضواً في هيئة تحرير المجلة العلمية اللبنانية ولجان التحكيم المتخصّصة لديه.
ملف الترشيح:
يتضمّن ملف الترشيح المستندات التالية:
(1) رسالة ترشيح من الباحث أو الهيئة المرشحة، (2) استمارة الترشيح المتاحة على موقع المجلس الالكتروني (www.cnrs.edu.lb) بعد إكمالها وفقاً للتعليمات الواردة فيها، (3) قائمة بمنشورات الباحث للسنوات الخمس الأخيرة اعتباراً من العام 2012 (تذكر المراجع وفق القواعد البيبليوغرافية الدولية بعد تبويبها حسب أنواعها: مقالات، كتب، وقائع مؤتمرات، ملخصات، ملصقات، مراجعة علمية، تقارير تقنية)، على أن يرفق الملف بصورة عن الصفحة الأولى لكل منشور.
التقييم:
يتم تقييم ملفات المرشحين المستوفية شروط الجائزة من قبل لجان علميّة متخصّصة وفقاً للمعايير المعتمدة عالمياً فيما يتعلق بجودة الأبحاث وأهميتها في خدمة المجتمع.

الإعلان عن الفائزين:
سيتم الإعلان عن الفائزين بجائزة المجلس الوطني للبحوث العلمية للتميّز العلمي 2017 في احتفال خاص ينظّمه المجلس لهذه الغاية خلال النصف الثاني من العام 2017.
