AGREEMENT ON SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION
BETWEEN THE NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF ITALY (CNR) AND
THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH OF LEBANON (CNRS-L)
FIFTH CALL FOR PROPOSALS:
In accordance with the text of the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between CNR (Italy) and CNRS-L (Lebanon), and after successful closure of the Fourth Call for Proposals (2016-2017), with four accepted research projects; a Fifth Call for Proposals for joint research projects 2017-2018 has been jointly launched by CNR and CNRS-L as follows:
Extension for deadline for submission of CNRS-CNR proposals until July 7, 2017 (13:00 local time in Lebanon)
A Joint Commission established by the CNRS, Lebanon and CNR, Italy will announce the results of the fifth call, and the awarded project by December 2017. The joint research projects are expected to start in January 2018.
Duration of the Joint Research Project: 2 Years (January 2018 - December 2019)
Topics of the Fifth Joint Call for Proposals:
- Marine Sciences and Biodiversity
- Management of Natural Resources
- Renewable Energy
- Food Security
- Archeology
- Water
Budget:
For each project, CNRS-L will provide annually up to 5,000 € to the Lebanese team, and CNR will provide up to 5,000 € to the Italian team.
The allocated funds for each project are to be used as follows:
- For Mobility – International and Domestic Travel & Accommodation (between 50-70%) **
- Implementation Costs (between 30-50%)
** Travel (international and domestic) and accommodation expenses for the participants shall be borne by the allocated budget of the sending party.
Reporting:
Each Joint Research Project Team is expected to submit a mid-term report at the end of the first year of the project (January 2019).
A final report (in publishable Word format) and a final presentation (in publishable Power Point Format) on the achievements, outputs and perspectives of the Joint Research Project will be submitted during a joint session of the CNR-CNRS at the end of the project duration (December 2019).
Copies of any publications resulting from the Joint Research Project should be included in the final submission.
Intellectual Properties:
Intellectual property rights shall belong to the researcher(s) and/or the researcher’s employing institution. Due Acknowledgement of support received from the CNRS, Lebanon and the CNR, Italy shall be made in any publication resulting from the research.

* The research programme needs to be agreed on with the Italian partner (acting as co-coordinator) who should be affiliated to the CNR, to which he will submit a similar proposal, following the procedure of his/her Institution.
** For Italian researchers who are not affiliated to the CNR-Italy and wish to be partners in the second call for proposals, it is recommended that they start the procedures of affiliation to the CNR-Italy as soon as possible, in order to ensure ample time for administrative procedures.
*** Researchers already involved, as Lebanese Project Coordinators, in a running CNR-CNRS JRP accepted project; cannot be Coordinators in a new proposal; they can however be a Member of the Lebanese Team in a new proposal.
