4PRIMA Stakeholder Event- Alignment of Research Programmes

PRIMA is the most ambitious programme that will be undertaken by both sides of the Mediterranean for joint programming and integration at scientific, management, and financial levels for a period of ten years.

The Mediterranean Area is united by both common challenges and common opportunities for the sustainable production and provision of adequate quality and quantity of food and water for enhancing soci-economic conditions, wellbeing and health of its people within a reinforced EU-MED Cooperation. (M. Uccellatore, MIUR)

PRIMA Operational Objectives: Grouped in 3 Pillars

PRIMAs’ specific objectives stress on enhancing and advancing knowledge and unlocking its innovation potential for food security/quality and water availability through (1) the formulation of stable and long-term common strategic agenda, (2) the orientation of national R&I Programme, (3) structural involvement of R&I, (4) and strengthening R&I funding and implementation capabilities.

We have actively worked together for over 10 years now; and through new opportunities, programmes and projects will continue to refine our collaboration based on new challenges, more resources (human and financial), new priorities and new possibilities. The PRIMA initiative and 4PRIMA Project are thus a natural continuation towards building on our bi-regional collaborations.(M. Hamzé, Secretary General, CNRS-L; Opening Session)
